Alzheimer's Disease
Understanding this condition
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a medical illness that damages the nerves in the brain. At the start of this illness, the area of the brain that is affected most is the part that helps you remember things.
A person with Alzheimer's disease may have problems with such everyday tasks as remembering names or setting the table, for example, or using the telephone, paying bills, and getting familiar words out. No one knows why Alzheimer's disease happens. There is no cure yet, but there are medicines that may help.
